Thank you to all of you who have registered directly through this site or via our Kickstarter pre-launch page, there are quite a few of you waiting for us to launch our campaign and we appreciate your support!
But, as you are undoubtably aware, Covid-19 has created a lot of supply problems including in the semiconductor industry, and unfortunately we were hit by that as well, literally just as we were ready to launch. As a result, the pricing of remaining chip stocks was skyrocketing and we could simply not be sure that we would be able to meet our promised schedule.
We continue to get regular updates on the component pricing and availability, and with everything else ready to go, we can launch as soon as we see that the situation is improving.
Please continue to register your interest through this website so we can notify you ahead of our launch, which we expect in early 2022!
We just received a new quotation for a critical component (that was recently 10x the original price!). It is not quite there yet but this hopefully means that we can plan to launch early in the new year! Watch this space!
We have started to reach out for new PCB manufacturing, assembly and component cost quotations now that we have made a few small design changes to accommodate more readily available components. We’re continuing to work on making sure that everything is ready before we commit to launching, but although we have seen some supply chain improvements, both pricing and stocks remain an issue, hence we are looking at additional sourcing options.
